Florida Organic Growers (FOG) is grateful to Congresswoman Kat Cammack, Florida’s lone representative on the agriculture committee, for her commitment and determination to help our great farming community. She has shown that she is listening to all our voices and continues to consider our mission to strengthen Florida’s organic, sustainable and regenerative agriculture sector. We are confident that with help from more representatives like her, the following important initiatives and efforts will continue to make a real difference across our state.

Strengthening Organic Agriculture
Thanks to ongoing support for organic transition programs, more than 600 acres across Florida have successfully transitioned to organic farming practices. Equally inspiring is seeing how over 1,000 farmers have benefited from the technical advice and resources provided and are now helping them adopt organic and sustainable practices. Many of these farmers are now implementing regenerative methods that make them eligible for the USDA Farmers First Regenerative Agriculture Pilot Program — a major step toward building a stronger, more sustainable domestic organic food system. We are grateful for the continued commitment to helping Florida organic farmers innovate and thrive.

Addressing USDA Staffing Shortages
Across the state, farmers depend on USDA’s FSA and NRCS staff for guidance, technical expertise, and essential services. Florida has experienced a 43% loss of these agents and specialists — leaving some county offices with no onsite staff available to help producers navigate their daily challenges.
These shortages can lead to backlogs, delays in contracts, and interruptions in financial assistance — all of which directly impact farmers’ livelihoods. We look forward to ongoing efforts aimed at rebuilding staffing levels so Florida’s producers can receive the support they need and deserve.

Standing With Farmers to Create Better Farm Safety Nets
Farmers across Florida continue to face rising input costs, extreme weather events — from freezes to hurricanes — and market pressures like tariffs and unfair trade practices. While ad-hoc emergency relief is always appreciated, many farmers tell us that they are not looking for hand-outs. What they value most is long-term, structural reform that strengthens our farm safety net; keeping our food systems strong for generations to come. We thank congresswoman Cammack for thoughtful engagement on these issues and for efforts that place the long-term strength of domestic agriculture front and center.

A Shared Commitment to Florida Agriculture
Every step forward, whether in sustainability, staffing, or support systems, helps build a more resilient and thriving future for farmers, families, and communities across Florida. We are thankful for the collaboration and continued attention to the needs of those who feed our state.

Together, we Regrow and Make Florida Agriculture Strong.
