The Florida Local Food Project is built for Local Food Actors like you. Farmers, chefs, market managers, food entrepreneurs, educators, distributors — anyone working to bring more Florida-grown food into their community. This project gives you a place to connect, find support, and be part of a statewide network working toward the same goal: a stronger, more resilient local food system.
A Local Food Actor is anyone who actively supports local food by producing, distributing, or selling it.
We define “Local Food” as food grown anywhere in Florida or within 50 miles of the state border.
We built this network around a few simple goals:
Understand who’s involved in Florida’s local food system.
Listen to community needs and identify challenges.
Create tools and resources that offer practical support.
Strengthen engagement through events and shared learning.
Build connections between producers, markets, restaurants, and organizations.
Track progress so we can see what’s working and what communities need next.
