Florida Certified Organic Growers and Consumers, Inc., dba FOG, is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) organization that supports and promotes organic and sustainable agriculture. The FOG board seeks to get new members who bring additional skills and capacity and expand its number of members. Board terms are for three years and are volunteer.
Obligations of the board: Board members' responsibilities include but are not limited to: strategic planning, ensuring necessary resources and providing oversight in evaluating program activities, financial oversight, funding development, providing guidance in FOG policy and program issues, provide oversight to ensure that legal requirements for the organization are not breached and safeguarding the mission of the organization.
Desired Qualifications: Previous experience on a non-profit board and interest, experience and/or education in the following fields: financial management, legal management, political advocacy, community food security issues, public relations, marketing, and a commitment to FOG's mission. FOG is interested in a full range of diverse applicants and encourages minorities to apply.

FOG needs a steady flow of volunteers willing to work hard, get dirty and make a difference in Alachua County. If you are interested in volunteering, please email volunteer@foginfo.org with your availability (days and times) and contact information and someone will follow up and schedule your work.
Duties include:
Assisting GIFT Gardens Coordinator with labor involved in on-site garden installations: Shovel soil into truck; help load tools and lumber into truck; help build raised beds on-site; shovel soil out of truck and into raised beds.
Preparing wood for garden installations: Cut boards with a circular saw into standard lengths and widths necessary to build raised beds; Pre-drill holes.
