Florida Organic Growers (FOG) received a USDA Community Food Planning Grant in May 2009 to support the process of identifying our community’s needs for a more sustainable food system. This one-year planning project is brining together stakeholders to have a voice in discussions about local food systems planning with a specific focus on community food security for low-income residents.
FOG’s role is to assist with the process, guiding meetings, facilitating discussions and engaging community members. This is a collaborative process that FOG can only achieve with the support of other organizations and community members to raise awareness and support for the project.
Stakeholders include members of low income communities, neighborhood associations, large property owners, local farmers, restaurants, institutions, schools, markets, food distributors, businesses, local government agencies, non-profit community organizations, and others that want to be involved in local food systems planning. Your input is greatly appreciated.
