Michael Fields offering grant writing assistance to underserved prod

Tue Oct 23, 2007 12:16 pm (PST)

Hi everyone,
Many of you operate markets with underserved producers so I thought
this may be of interest. The Michael Fields Institute is piloting a
program to help these producers apply for federal grants by offering
them the assistance of an experienced grant writer. The grant writer
will not write the proposals, but will act as advisors to farmers. Due
to the pilot nature of the project it will only be offering this
service in the South, West and Midwest.

E-Cooperatives.com Posted By:
The National Farmers Union has established a web site called E-Cooperatives.com. The site provides a channel for producers to market their products directly to the consumer, eliminating the middle man and allowing them to add more profit to their bottom line.

Included on the website is a searchable database listing farmer-controlled businesses categorized by general products, region, growing practices, specialty products, and niche items. Consumers can enter search criteria and obtain lists which match the search requests.

There is no cost to be listed on the site.
