July 2009 > FOG seeks nominations for Woman of the Year in Agriculture Award

FOG is seeking suggestions on whom it should nominate for the 2009 “Woman of the Year in Agriculture” award. The award, now in its 25th year, recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to Florida agriculture.

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, which sponsors the event, has sent nomination forms to agricultural organizations around the state. The deadline for submitting nominations to the Department is November 1, 2009. FOG would like suggestions on whom it should nominate for the distinguished award. FOG's nominee does not have to be an organic grower, but should be using sustainable production practices if they are a grower. Those nominated for the award will be judged by a panel familiar with Florida agriculture. The award will be presented on February 4, 2010, during the opening-day luncheon of the Florida State Fair in Tampa.

To suggest a candidate to FOG, email fog@foginfo.org.
