FOG and Quality Certification Services (QCS) welcome new staff working at the Gainesville office, and bid a fond farewell to other QCS staff leaving the Gainesville headquarters to establish new QCS regional offices.

Melissa DeSa joined the FOG staff in June as Community Food Project Coordinator. She is also the co-chair of Slow Food Gainesville. With a master's in Interdisciplinary Ecology, DeSa comes to FOG with a strong research background that will assist in assessing the community's food security needs. She is adminstering the GIFT Gardens project and the Community Food Planning Project.

QCS welcomes four new staff members. Sibel Erbay, who received her Ph.D. from the Food Science program at the University of Florida, is a new certification coordinator specializing in processing. Carrie Stilwell, who joins QCS from Oregon where she studied law and biology and worked in the field of conservation, is a new certification coordinator and inspector specializing in crops. Nick Greenhood, Meghan Hamlin and Hannah Mesh have also joined the administrative department.

QCS and FOG bid a fond farewell to two staff leaving the Gainesville headquarters to open new QCS regional offices. QCS Administrative Manager Javier Fernandez Salvador is moving to Corvallis, Ore., and Technical Review Manager Beth Rota is moving to Columbia, Mo. Administrative Assistant Denise Aguero will be taking over as Administrative Manager in the Gainesville headquarters.
