GIFT Gardens recipients and those who have volunteered to build gardens are invited to a Volunteer Appreciation and Workshop Sept. 20 from noon to 3 p.m. at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville.
The event will connect gardening enthusiats in the area, so they can assist each other in future planting, and create a gardening community that will be a source of inspiration and friendship. IFAS Master Gardeners will present the workshop and answer questions attendees may have about the upcoming fall planting season.
GIFT Gardens is a FOG program that provides low income Alachua County residents and the institutions that serve them with free raised bed gardens to assist them in providing for some of their own food needs.
FOG is hoping local businesses will donate items of appreciation for the volunteers, who have worked so hard installing raised bed gardens at nearly 100 homes and institutions in Alachua County. To RSVP for the event or for information
about volunteering or providing donations, call 352.377.6345 or email fog@foginfo.org.
